Bulkhead

GENERAL INFORMATION


The Bulkhead is specially designed for decorative architectural applications where durability and quality is a requirement. The state of the art design has a sturdy cast LM6 aluminium die cast base and ring, and is rated SABS IP66.

MANUFACTURING DATA

LUMINAIRE BASE


The luminaire base is manufactured from heavy duty precision die cast grade LM6 aluminium and is suitable for horizontal or vertical mounting. The I.P.66 sealing gasket is incorporated in a precision groove in the base, providing a tongue-&-groove sealing arrangement. Mounting is extremely simple with four external mounting holes. The base rear surface has 3mm high cast protrusions which allows for a gap between the mounting surface and the base. This also helps to prevent wiring damage due to pinching during installation. The base can be installed without the aluminium trim ring during the early stages of building construction and the trim ring with modular control gear tray and lens would be fitted afterwards to eliminate accidental damage during building. The base is finished in white epoxy powder coating for extra protection and light reflection.

DIFFUSER


The diffuser/lens is thermoformed from the highest quaulity ultra-high-impact acrylic providing the optimum in weathering resistance. The lenses are available in two different shape-styles (slim or dome) and two different light diffusion options (prismatic or opal). A ten year guarantee against any signs of weathering applies. The trim ring secures the diffuser with two captive stainless steel allen key fasteners.

TRIM RING


The cast trim ring is manufactured from die cast aluminium (grade LM6). Due to the high strength of the trim ring only two fixing screws (M5 stainless steel Allen Heads) are required for mounting the ring and diffuser onto the base still achieving an I.P.66 sealing.

CONTROL GEAR / ELECTRICAL


The control gear tray is completely modular and fixed via two key holes onto the base - Total ease of maintenance - no removal of screws. To access the gear tray the trim ring is simply removed by loosening two captive fasteners.

SABS MARK


The luminaire has been SABS tested and bears the SABS 1464 safety mark.
